Africa Health & Community Program is an NGO working with and for vulnerable groups in Kibera slum in Nairobi, where more than one million people live.

 

AHCP was started in 2005 by Mrs. Isabel Sadya Omondi .AHCP is registered by the NGO Coordination board of Kenya as a  grassroots Non Governmental Organisation ,with all of its permanent staff being Kenyan nationals and operates with assistance from both international & local volunteers. 

 

 

AHCP works in both the Rural areas and Urban Slum .In the rural areas it works in Rachuonyo District, in Homa Bay County. Siaya County ,Busia County , Budalangi district , Buongo Division in Busia .Whereas in the slum area AHCP works in both   Kibera  and Mathera Slum in Nairobi. AHCP has been focussing on Health and Human Development with programs designed to create opportunities for the targeted beneficiaries to gain knowledge and tools to live better lives while simultaneously improving their living environment.

 

AHCP's role in the society is to catalyze the building a sustainable and participatory social infrastructure which may promote grassroots development and human rights. AHCP believes in empowering the local people on how to handle socio-economic challenges for themselves by turning to the locally available resources.







 

ABOUT US

Community empowernment and participation will continue to be fundamental instrument for the development and poverty reduction in the decades ahead.The key group requiring attention are the hundreds of millions of youths ,children and women living in improverished slums and low resources communities around Kenya.

AHCP focuses on providing opportunities for these groups through a need driven interventions especially in areas of Human Rights,Development and sustainability initiatives.Our AHCP's overarching goal is to create a self reliant community through an intergrated approach.

Achieving these goals is only through partnership .We are commited to engage in new partnership and develop them successfully to the fulfillment of the organisation's mission and overall objective.
